2. Composition/Information on Ingredients

PTEROFLAT XT is the brand name for extruded Polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA) sheets manufactured by POLITEM Dynamic Plastic.

3. Hazard Identifications

No particular hazards know.

4. First-Aid Measures

EYES: immediately flush with plenty of water. Get medical attention if irritation persists

INHALATION: remove to fresh air. If not breathing, give artificial respiration. If breathing is difficult, give oxygen.

BURNS: flush the area with plenty of water. Remove contaminated clothing and shoes. Wash clothing before reuse. Get medical attention if irritation develops and persists.

5. Fire-Fighting Measures

Suitable Extinguishing Media: Water spray, foam, dry chemical, carbon dioxide Do Not Use: Full jet water Special Protective equipment for Fire-Fighting: Wear self-contained breathing apparatus.

Sweep or gather up material mechanically.

7. Handling and Storage

Avoid contact with eyes, skin and clothing. Wash thoroughly after handling. Keep container closed. Use only with adequate ventilation.

Avoid temperature extremes during storage; ambient temperature preferred.

No specific exposure related hazards are known. Wear protective gloves while handling sheets.

Thermal Decomposition About 280°C

Hazardous Decomposition With proper handling – none. On thermal decomposition vapours, consisting predominantly of Methylmethacrylate, are formed, which are inflammable and irritating to the eyes and respiratory system.

This material is chemically stable under normal and anticipated storage and handling conditions.

11. Toxicological Information

With proper handling and provided the standards of industrial hygiene and safety in the work place are followed, no health hazards should be expected.

12. Ecological Information

PTEROFLAT XT PMMA is a solid material, insoluble in water and non-toxic, therefore no adverse effects on the environment should be expected.

13. Disposal Considerations

RECYCLE AND DISCHARGE: The product is suitable for mechanical recycling. After appropriate treatment it can be remelted and processed into new molded articles.
Mechanical recycling is possible if the material has been selectively retrieved and carefully segregated according to type.

No labeling is required in accordance with the EEC directives. In connection with dusts formed in consequence of mechanical treatment, e.g. grinding, the appropriate regulation/maximal values for fine dusts must be observed:
